Feeling Like You Can't Make It? Read On:

I lost a pound! Yea!

That's it.

Just kidding! You know I am going to yammer on about something! So quite a few of us kittens have been complaining about fatigue on this diet and getting frustrated with our lack of progress. We have to remember that we all had phenomanal weight loss in the first week....and that is hard to keep up. So for those of us flailing around, I am going to make a few suggestions. First: go off the diet for a week....don't lose your marbles, but eat sensible and eat the stuff you want. Keep an eye on the scale to make sure nothing creeps back up on you. (If you are going to eat a bag of chips a day, expect to gain weight). Second: keep eating a half hour after you wake up, eat the protein/bean/veggie combo for that week you are 'off'. Third: try the icepack therapy everynight. This will work well if you are eating some chocolate and a hot latte. Fourth: Keep excercising. Fifth: Do NOT have a Binge Day when not on the diet.

As Tim says; use common sense with his program. And taylor it to your needs. One guy in the book lost weight just by tracking his weight. If you do one week on, one week off of this diet (and think about it, that is really only 6 days of dieting in a 14 day period), it will become easy and pallatable. We can have some toast or sugar during the other 8 days, and then go for the super weight loss on the 6 days. I can't see the harm in doing this. Feel free to e-mail me on your thoughts. I think it would be cool to not be on a diet ALL the time.

Hey Barb ... great points. I was intrigued when Kelly told me about the book and that some of the Ottawa gals were giving this a try, enough to buy the e-book and find out more. I think some of it is pure and utter bullcrap but I think some of it makes a lot of sense. I was intrigued enough to at least cut down the amount of "bad" carbs I eat and make better food choices in general. That can't be a bad thing. I know he says to track, measure, etc. but weighing has never been my thing ... I'll just go by better fitting clothing and my goal of fitting into a size 10 pant consistently!

Keep it up Barb ... I look forward to your daily updates - you have a real gift for the written word that I never knew you had.

You are making me blush!! It true, there is not one answer for everyone. Take a piece of this and a piece of that. I think I am going to tackle Suzanne Somers "Sexy Forever" Book next....she is a piece of work, but some of the stuff she says in the book, natropaths have been saying for years. Stay tuned and thanks for keeping up with me! (And if you know anyone who likes to read blogs, pass it on!)

Well my thoughts - I did the diet for 14 days. I thought it had some great principles (and still do) as u said Barb L- such as eat protein when you wake, try to cut out all sugar and dairy, cold compress before bed, etc.. What I couldnt do- was keep doing the three workouts a week with my trainer (which Ive paid for so I cant pooch out on) which are tough and stay on the diet- I had 0 energy.

So- I also looked at the Belly Fat Cure diet- and in true "Tim Ferriss" style, hacked the two together. So- I eat 0 sugar ezekiel bread with my morning eggs, other 0 sugar carbs at lunch, and keep it to protein veg and maybe beans at dinner. I also have 4 =yes 4- squares of dark 85%chocolate when Im feeling like I need something sweet. Im not doing the wine- I think thats Tim's "thing" and it was never part of my routine anyway- and no cheat days.I try to keep my total sugar grams under 15 for the day- (thats part of the belly fat cure thing). Its done it for me so far- starting losing weight again after not budging after week 2 on 4HB.

I think if having your chai tea makes you feel "sane", alive and well, then you should keep it. If it means a little less weight loss but longer adherence to the diet, the key is staying on it- and staying on a path to better eating for all of us. THATS whats gonna make the long term diff.So I say- CHAI AWAY!

The MAIN thing I think that is so great about this experience is that its made me pay attention to a few things I wasnt doing before- how I feel when I eat alot of sugar-for example- and its making me blog on my own, which is making me think of why I eat what I do, when I do- and what I need to change to make lasting changes in my diet and health.

And above all, I LOVE reading your blog. As soon as I've written my daily input I immediately rush to read yours- it inspires me, makes me laugh- and in a way makes me realize that we all have our struggles but when we share them we feel less alone.
No shit you have the gift of writing- seriously its a talent. If nothing else try to get your blog listed on a lifestyle site- or start writing about your life in addition to the diet- I think people would read it .everyday.
Love ya honeys!
